B2B card transactions move through a different fee landscape than consumer transactions. Commercial cards, purchasing cards, government cards, and corporate cards all have their own interchange categories — and qualifying for the lowest-cost categories requires submitting additional transaction data with each authorization.

Most B2B platforms either don't submit the data, submit it incompletely, or submit it without the gateway and processor configuration that lets the network actually qualify the transaction. The result: paying standard commercial interchange when Level II or Level III was available. On any meaningful B2B card volume, that gap is six to seven figures annually.

What is Level II / Level III interchange?
Visa, Mastercard, and the other networks publish lower interchange categories for B2B transactions when additional data is submitted with the transaction. Level II requires basic enrichment (tax amount, customer code). Level III requires line-item detail (item description, quantity, unit price, freight, ship-to ZIP). Qualifying for Level III on commercial card volume typically reduces interchange by 50–100 basis points per transaction.
Will my customers see any change?
No. Level II / III enrichment happens in the background between your gateway, your processor, and the card networks. The cardholder experience is unchanged.
